Carmelita's Original Hot Salsa
4/5 - Very Good
Heat: Hot
25 oz. $1.50 at Big Lots!
From the manufacturer: "Ingredients: Diced tomatoes, tomato juice, jalapeno peppers, tomatillos, tomato paste, salt, garlic powder, spices, citric acid, and calcium chloride." I haven't seen this locally. There were a few bottles at Big Lots recently. I plan to buy another. Wow, for the money, this could be a staple item. Great as a dip and good on nachos. Plenty hot but not too hot. The label has a recipe for Carmelita's Huevos Rancheros that sounds authentic. Spices contain a noticeable but not overwhelming taste of dried chilies. Better than the current version of Herdez Hot salsa. Keeps well; I've been eating it for a week now. Really excellent for a bottled salsa. I give this a 4 minimum!
